“Can you believe it, Renee? In less than a week you’ll be a teenager, just like your cousins Louis and Isabelle. I’m so excited for you! Becoming a woman is a big deal! Aren’t you excited, dear?”

“Heh, yeah I guess. You said my interests will change too, right? I want to understand all the things that’ll help me fit in.”

“I can’t wait to be a teenager! Renee, tell me all about it!”

“Ugh, I am never going to your sister’s house again!”

“I’m sorry I brushed you off like you were just making excuses. You really did look like you were about to die.”

“Nah, it’s okay. Sorry I’m a big baby.”

“Beau, you’re not a big baby. Now how about I draw you a bath and get you some clean clothes?”

“Thanks, babe. Y’know, Mason was a pretty cute baby. Your family’s got some great genes.”

“Yes, he was. Now let’s get you out of yours.”

“Angela! It’s your mother!”

“Mom! How’ve you been?”

“Wonderful, now-”

“Heyy! Let’s not forget the stepmom!”

“Oh, welcome, welcome!”

“Mom, I had no idea you and Kaylynn would be here so early. Don’t you have to set up the apartment?”

“Ah-ha-ha! I knew you’d ask that! We actually moved in just before we had the most wonderful vacation in Twikki Island! Your father was never interested in truly enjoying our vacations. Even on our honeymoon, he’d wander off to wherever whenever and I’d have to wait for him!”

“San Myshuno is so nice, from what I’ve seen so far! There’s even an LGBT seniors club at the community center. Pleasantview was never so friendly, but I guess I have some of the blame for that, huh?”

“Why, just the other day, I saw one of those transvestite people! You know, the ones who get that surgery?”

“Mom, they’re transgender, not transvestites.”

“And how would you know?”

“One of the parents at Caitlin’s preschool is transgender. His name is Sam Thomas, if you’ve met him.”

“Now look who’s being politically incorrect! I would at least respect her wishes to be a woman!”

“Mom, no. He transitioned to a man, not to a woman.”

“Now why would anyone want to do that? Men are smelly and messy! They never know what you want in bed! You know, for a romance sim, your father was terrible at Woohoo!”

“Mom, I don’t think that’s how-”

“I’m just glad we don’t have any of that going on in our family! Imagine what grandma and grandpa Oldie would say if they were alive! Why, they’re probably rolling in their grave just from me and Kaylynn alone!”

“Mom, can we not-?”

“Now, let me tell you about how I found out your cousin’s husband gave birth to one of those green people!”

The Meeting – Angela meets Marcus Baldwin

“Lovely to meet you, Mrs. Broke. Glad you came just in time before the sunset. Our butler has a bit of an issue with visitors after dark. Now, come in. Have some tea.”

“I was curious about my daughter’s audition. Lately she’s been having a lot of self-esteem issues; saying she’s ugly and no one likes her. You’ve got to have some kind of program to give her a boost, right?”

“Mrs. Broke, it’s perfectly natural to be concerned about your daughter’s self-esteem, but our casting methods rely purely on talent, not on who needs the boost most. Besides, it’s just a commercial for non-toxic glitter nail polish, not a blockbuster film.”

“But you have to at least have some idea whether or not Renee got the spot, right?”

“Mrs. Broke, we are still in the very early casting process. I can’t say anything yet.”

“Alright…”

“We’ll call you when we’ve made a decision.”

The Audition – Angela, Dustin, & Renee

“Hey kiddo!” Dustin was quick to greet his wife and daughter at the door. “How’d the audition go?”

“It was kinda boring, but the director was nice! He let me play Voidcritters while the other kids were reading the scripts, even though mom said he wouldn’t!” Renee was more excited about playing Voidcritters than the audition itself, but as long as she was content, her parents didn’t mind.

“Well, I am so proud of you! And you didn’t even get your dress dirty!”

“Yeah! ‘Cause mom said if I didn’t get my dress dirty at the audition, we can go to Sim Burger when we find out the results, whether I got the part or not!”

“I see…”

Dustin pulled Angela into a hug, so proud of their little girl.

“She was very well behaved.” Angela commented. “Kaylynn also set her up for a modelling photoshoot this Sunday.”

“That’s great!”

“Uh, mom? Can I get out of this dress? It’s itchy and I’m all sweaty!”

“Fine, but you look so pretty!”

“Nuh-uh. I’m ugly.”

“Now, who said that?”
