Are you tired of making the same old boring jokes whenever your sims mention pearl necklaces, sumo wrestlers and hot stew? Do you wish the kids would talk about something else than weird monsters and math?

Introducing: Talk to me: a speech icon replacement mod

Lol, sorry, I couldn’t resist >< Anyway, I have made a thing ^^ “Talk to me” is a default replacement, replacing (almost) all speech icons with TS4 speech icons.

I got the idea for this mod when I saw Simbury’s beautiful regency game with period appropriate conversation topics in the speech bubbles. I search for that mod, found it, and was bummed I don’t play a period game. So I decided to make my own replacement mod. And after months of careful testing and tweaking, I guess it’s ready to be shared.

Because of the amount of pictures, I’ve made a Livejournal post 🙂

I mean, this game has been out for TWELVE YEARS and I never cease to be amazed by the creativity of members of our community. This year we’ve had everything from animated skies to lighted hood deco to stunning horizons and everything in between!

Whether you create defaults, conversions, hair retextures, object meshes, recolors, clothing, Sims, lots, hood deco, miscellaneous fixes…

Whether you’re a new creator, longtime vet, or someone who disappeared for awhile and found their way back to our community…

I appreciate the hell out of you. ♥

THIS! Absolutely this.

Also, I’d like to add a shoutout to the TS2 community in general. Creators, storytellers, picture-takers, and people who just play the game and share pics of what they do, all of us. I think the community is just generally awesome and nice and collaborative and all that. I see the bickering and drama in other branches of the Simming community, with petty yelling about “stealing” and “copying,” and people getting all proprietary and thinking that it’s OK to be paid to make stuff, and people having downright feuds over petty crap, and God-knows-what-all-else, and it just boggles my mind that people are like that about a game that encourages creativity

I know the TS2 community had its drama when it was the only community, sure, but I can’t help feeling that all the genuinely nice and helpful people stuck with (or returned to) TS2 (Well, except me. IRL, I’m kind of a jerk, but I practice being nice online), while others moved on. And maybe it’s just me, but from what I’ve seen, the newer games seemed to have sucked in a bunch of petty drama-queen teenagers…or adults who have yet to grow out of that mentality. Yeah, I know I sound like I’m being all, “Damn kids, get off my lawn!” but I’m really not because I know there are many young people in the TS2 community, too. I mean, I’ve seen some of the ages of people who follow me and of people I follow, and I have grandkids almost their age. So it’s not an age thing at all. It’s an attitude thing. And I think that the TS2 community has just been filtered down to a bunch of good people with great attitudes and “community spirit,” and it’s really, really awesome. And I love you all. 🙂

What Fi and iCad said! I could never feel more welcome in the newer game communities; Sims 2 fans are a bunch of cuties! This community is so welcoming, friendly, helpful, creative, the list of positives goes on! As easy as it is to complain about the community being small, you have to admit we are a tight-knit bunch. 😀 Hugs (and maybe even kisses!) to everyone!

Also ditto. (Except that I’m not a jerk in RL, I’m an extreme introvert – so I practice being social online 🙂 )

All of that ! Except as @celebkiriedhel I’m an introvert too, hypersensitive

empathetic

autistic person who feels so lost IRL because I don’t understand
wickedness and dramas, maybe that’s why I feel so good here now, as in a refuge 🙂

YUS!

I adore the sims 2 community with all my heart c:

I’m a very shy person and I was supes worried people here wouldn’t like me, but everyone has been so incredibly kind and I’m very happy to feel welcomed by people I’ve looked up to for years ;w;

TIL while writing a paper on The Sims…

That the reason it ever existed in the first place, and the reason WE are here on Simblr is because Will Wright’s house burned down and it inspired him to create a game centered around building a life.

Also, how ironic is it that the developers had two fires (first Will Wright, then EA during the development of Sims 2) occur, and the one thing Sims is famous for (aside from drowning Sims) is burning down houses?
