A dopey little vent

My grandmother is never happy.

Everything I do makes her upset. I can’t even pour myself a bowl of cereal without her literally crying about how she should stop cooking for anyone but herself and my grandfather. Truth is, I don’t eat a lot of her food bc it makes me feel sick, but obviously I can’t TELL her that or all hell will break loose.

Going to doctors is the worst, bc she takes me but constantly makes comments like she’s annoyed I’m getting checked out because SHE doesn’t go to doctors and SHE “knows better” than them apparently. Not to mention she either butts in when I’m trying to talk to anyone or complains about how she’s going to be bored all day.

If I ask her politely not to interrupt me, she starts crying saying “I’m sorry I CARE!” Even though during past emergency situations, she couldn’t have cared less about me, and told me or my mother or sister to stop “overreacting” if we needed to go to the ER.

She is a lost cause and she has always been like this. Ever since she’s retired tho we have to deal with her behavior even more.

SIXTEEN??? YIKES I didn’t realise it was this bad

Where did you take this test?

Link to take the test:
http://www.psychology-tools.com/empathy-quotient

add your mbti type too!!

istp – 37

Intj – 27

INTJ – 32

INTJ – 11

INTJ – 4

INFJ – 42

Does anyone get a really high result?

ENTP – 47

@celebkiriedhel Honestly, I would be really suspicious of a really high score. Compassion/empathy is a wonderful thing, yes, but an extreme excess of it can be crippling, perhaps more crippling than having too little of it. If you’re so other-focused that you can’t ever think of yourself first, then you will find life extremely difficult, and I’d be surprised if any such people actually exist. (I’m reminded of the Star Trek episode “The Enemy Within” and how ineffectual a leader the “good” Kirk was, precisely because he was TOO compassionate and couldn’t, for instance, make decisions for the benefit of a bunch of people if it endangered just one person. Star Trek’s first season really was stellar. 🙂 ) So I would say that a near-50 score (EDIT: Or actually near-40, since I just noticed it’s a scale of 80, not 100 🙂 ) would be a healthy one. Enough compassion/empathy to make non-self-centered decisions and to act in the interests of others sometimes before yourself when necessary, but not so empathetic that you’re completely crippled by it.

64 here. I don’t know how I feel about that, given what dramallamadingdang wrote above 😛

I got 23 and I think my personality type is INTJ. I don’t know how I am supposed to feel about this. :/

Yo! ISTJ here (a.k.a professor Severus Snape 😀 ) and i got:

“ Your Empathy Quotient score was 58 out of a possible 80.”

Generally I’m like “ If I think it needs to be done and it is morally right  I’ll do it and we will all cry over it later” xD

i got a 56 and that feels right. @bad-boricua

52 out of 80. Not surprising since my MBTI type is INFP. 🙂

Your Empathy Quotient score was 53 out of a possible 80.  Hmmm…

48

Last time I checked I was… INFP? I can’t remember ^^;

most of the stuff that probs lowered my score was probs the “like to plan” and “hard time in social situations” kinds of questions

I get anxious in crowds/big groups ngl o~o
